Learn About RHA® Filler
The aging process triggers inevitable changes in the skin. In addition to bony loss that causes sinking, the skin’s Hyaluronic Acid (HA) reserves thin out over time. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity. It’s the natural decrease of HA that accelerates the appearance of wrinkles and lines. The Skin & Laser Center of Grosse Pointe offers a range of dermal fillers that—when injected strategically—restore lost volume and soften fine lines by replacing lost HA. One of our newest dermal fillers in the office is a designer filler collection: the RHA® Collection.
What is the RHA® Collection?
Designed in Switzerland, RHA® is the only FDA-approved HA filler for dynamic wrinkles. The RHA® Collection is the latest innovation in dermal fillers that add subtle volume, create natural-looking contours, and provide a subtle lift, often in just one treatment.
Results from RHA® appear immediately and can last up to 15 months. Within the Collection are three formulations of filler: RHA® 2, RHA® 3, and RHA® 4, all with different applications to specific areas of the face.
How is the RHA® Collection different from other dermal fillers?
RHA® was designed to target dynamic areas of the face—regions where folds and wrinkles have appeared over time because of repetitive movements such as laughing, frowning, and squinting. Traditional HA fillers can cause dynamic facial areas to appear stiff and unnatural.
RHA’s design makes it more adaptable to facial movement than its peers. RHA stands for resilient hyaluronic acid—it’s a long-chain particle formulation that’s robust and flexible enough to bend with your facial expressions. Made using a manufacturing process dedicated to preserving the natural structure of HA that mimics the HA in your skin, RHA® contains fewer chemical proteins and is a cleaner filler option that achieves a naturally youthful appearance.
How do I know which RHA® formulation is right for me?
The RHA® Collection encompasses three formulations of RHA® filler. During your initial consultation, our board-certified dermatologists will assess your aesthetic goals and select the filler formulation(s) that will most effectively achieve the changes you’re looking for. Below is a brief description of the RHA® options:
RHA® 2 – to treat moderate dynamic lines and wrinkles
RHA® 3 – to treat moderate to severe wrinkles
RHA® 4 – to treat severe wrinkles
