Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a popular way to improve skin quickly and with little downtime. Peels exfoliate the outer layer of the skin to renew and rejuvenate the complexion to correct minor skin imperfections such as wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Peels exfoliate damaged cells to freshen and smooth the skin and revealing a more youthful appearance, especially when done regularly.

How Chemical Peels Work

At the Skin and Laser Center of Grosse Pointe, we use medical grade chemical peels  that include various alpha-hydroxy acids, such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, and citric acid. Additionally, we offer Betalift (betahydroxy) and Retinoic Acid (Vitamin A) peels.

Peels are categorized as light, medium or deep, depending on the strength of the solution. Our team can recommend a customized treatment plan for you with the appropriate level peel taking into consideration factors including your goals, previous peel treatments and skin type. Chemical peels are a great option for darker skin or when lasers are not an option for treating pigmentation or uneven skin tone.

What A Chemical Peel Treats

A chemical peel resurfaces the skin, and is therefore a good solution for changes brought on by sun exposure such as sun spots and age spots. It also treats concerns such as acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines by removing the outer layer of skin to reveal a younger, fresher layer of skin.
