Dr. Richard Ferrara, MD, FAAD
Richard Ferrara, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist with decades of experience helping patients achieve healthy, beautiful skin. He offers expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, including treating everything from skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, and eczema to providing advanced cosmetic procedures that help patients look and feel their most confident.
A proud Grosse Pointe native, Dr. Ferrara graduated from University Liggett School before earning his undergraduate degree with distinction from Bucknell University. He then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he graduated near the top of his class. His training continued at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he completed both his internship and dermatology residency.
In addition to caring for patients at Ferrara Dermatology, Dr. Ferrara serves as section chief of dermatology at St. John Hospital and is on staff at Beaumont Hospital. He’s also an advanced-level injector and instructor through Allergan, training other providers in the latest cosmetic techniques. Passionate about innovation, he continually seeks out the newest treatments and technologies. Whether it’s state-of-the-art lasers, radiofrequency devices, or the latest in fillers and neuromodulators, Dr. Ferrara only brings the best options to his patients.

Dr. Katherine L. Caretti, MD, FAAD
Katherine L. Caretti, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist who loves helping people feel confident in their skin. She specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, which means whether you’re looking to treat a skin condition, address a health concern, or refresh your look, she’s here to help with skill, precision, and a friendly, down-to-earth approach.
Dr. Caretti grew up in Grosse Pointe and is proud to serve the same community she calls home. She earned her Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University of Michigan, then went on to Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Along the way, she received numerous awards for academic excellence, including the Senior Award in Dermatology.
She completed her dermatology residency at Wayne State as chief resident and was honored with the Resident Outstanding Achievement Award. Dr. Caretti is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, American Medical Association, and Michigan Dermatologic Society.
In the clinic, Dr. Caretti treats conditions like psoriasis, eczema, acne, and skin cancer, and is highly trained in surgical treatments, as well as cosmetic procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapies. Her goal is always the same: to deliver exceptional, personalized care while making sure every patient feels informed, comfortable, and cared for.
Outside of work, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and three young children, enjoying the community she’s proud to serve. At Ferrara Dermatology, Dr. Caretti knows that your best skin is your healthiest skin, and uses this wellness and health minded approach to help you look and feel your very best.
John Sobotka, MS, PA-C
John Sobotka, MS, PA-C is a certified physician assistant with over 16 years of dermatology experience. He provides expert care in medical dermatology, treating patients of all ages for a wide range of skin conditions. Whether he’s helping a teen manage acne, addressing a chronic skin concern, or providing routine skin cancer screenings, John brings a calm, approachable manner that puts patients at ease.
A graduate of Wayne State University, John earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies there. His deep knowledge of dermatology, paired with years of hands-on experience, allows him to create personalized, effective treatment plans that prioritize both skin health and patient comfort.
John is passionate about building long-term relationships with his patients, taking the time to listen and explain each step of their care. He is passionate about helping people feel confident in their skin.
