Restylane
It’s almost impossible to avoid the changes that take place in the skin as time passes. It becomes thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it did when you were younger. How your skin ages will depend on a variety of factors including your lifestyle, diet, and personal habits.
Aging also contributes to the loss of the all-important hyaluronic (HA) acid in the skin. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity. As HA diminishes, skin loses volume, thereby increasing chances for wrinkles and folds to appear. The good news is that you can do something about it. There are several options in the Restylane® line of products that can help you regain younger-looking skin.
What is Restylane?
Restylane is the brand-name given to a range of cosmetic fillers that are derived from non-animal hyaluronic acid.
How it works
When Restylane is injected into the skin, it replenishes HA levels in the soft tissue, and this instantly reduces the appearance of lines and folds. Restylane also encourages the creation of new collagen, and this also helps to make the skin firmer, and diminish wrinkles and creases.
What it Treats
Products in the Restylane family are used to add volume and fullness to the skin, to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, particularly nasolabial folds that run from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Restylane is also the first and only FDA-approved dermal filler for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years of age.
The Results
The results with Juvederm are immediate, but it may take a few days before the skin settles down. After this your skin will feel softer, and look smoother and more youthful. Juvederm lasts for 4 to 6 months, but this may vary depending on the area being treated.
